Hello, Hola & Bonjour

It all started in 2021. I was finishing my product design studies in Berlin, Germany.

I was far from my family in Mexico, in a completely opposite culture, struggling through my thesis in a harsh winter and Covid lockdowns.

I had no energy to wake up in the morning.

Too much anxiety to fall asleep at night.

No loved ones close to me.

I started feeling depressed.

My family surprises me with an essential oil diffuser.

It was the first time I experienced how much smell and light could change the way I start and end my day.

It helped me through one of the hardest times of my life. It quickly became something I couldn't live without, for my morning and evening ritual.

But as a product designer, I couldn't ignore everything that was wrong with it.

The water tank to clean,
the noise,
the cheap plastic,
having to change the oil every day,
the messy cables,
a light more decorative than helpful for waking up or falling asleep.

I started testing every product on the market , looking for the one that would solve my problems.

None of them did.

The name Olin comes from Aztec cosmology . It represents the four movements of the sun : rising, zenith, setting, nadir, pictured as four points around a center.

It's a symbol of the solar cycle. The Aztecs understood it first, thousands of years ago: our bodies follow the rhythm of the sun . Olin is built on that connection.

We started searching for the highest quality essential oils we could find. That search led us to Grasse, the world capital of perfume, on the French Riviera. We found a family-owned natural ingredients house founded in 1850 .

Four generations of expertise in natural ingredients, supplying the world's leading luxury and cosmetic houses.

Together, we created two exclusive organic blends for Olin: one to energize your morning, one to calm your evening.

We named them Colette and Jacqueline, after Clement's two grandmothers. Colette carried the brightness of morning; Jacqueline, the calm of evening. Each blend is a tribute to the woman whose spirit it holds.

My mum, a Mexican painter, has spent her life capturing the nature of Mexico on canvas.

When we started Olin, asking her to be part of it was the most natural decision we made.

She brought the nature in our blends to life, hand-painting every plant for the packaging, the posters, and the cards you'll find in your box.

These are unique artworks, only for the Olin universe.

Olin is a family project of craftsmanship . Designed and engineered in Europe, crafted in China, with art from Mexico and oils from the French Riviera.
